Rising Sun coach Bryce Kendrick:

Sydney Pitts had a great game in all phases. As a pitcher, it was her most complete performance of the young season with 8 strikeouts against 1 walk and 5 hits. She gave up two runs in the last inning but both were unearned. Defensively, she had an assist which also held a runner on third. Offensively, she hit two solo home runs. The first led off the game. The last led off the sixth inning which started our second rally to put the game away. She added a double, an intentional walk and scored 3 runs.

Catcher Sydney Bostic threw out two runners at second. One was caught stealing while the other was off the bag. She also had 3 hits with an RBI. Kassidy Romans doubled twice and singled with 2 runs and an RBI. Emma Levi’s 2 RBI double in the sixth gave us the run margin needed to end the game a half inning later. Tyrrah Miller had a great game at shortstop with 3 assists, 1 diving stop and 2 put outs at second on the throws by Bostic.

We scored 13 runs on 15 hits against a pitcher and a team which shut out their first two opponents. The Cougars’ top 5 in their order and pitcher/catcher combo were solid. It was a nice road victory for us.
