Rising Sun Boys soccer lost 2-1 in Sectional Finals to Lawrenceburg. Rising Sun made 2 costly mistakes that Lawrenceburg took advantage of, while the Shiners did not capitalize on their own chances at goal. Great Job on a fantastic season for the Shiners!

Multiple Teams · Volleyball Team Wins Invitational


The varsity volleyball team won their home invitational and continued the win streak. The team defeated Rock Creek Academy 22-25, 25-21, 15-12; Shawe 25-17, 25-13; Eastern Pekin 25-27, 25-13, 17-15. The team plays at Lawrenceburg on Tuesday.

Girls Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Cross Country · Shiners Win Pumpkin Invite


The boys cross-country team defended their title as Great Pumpkin Invitational champions September 24th. The Shiners lined up with five other teams including conference teams South Ripley, Shawe, Milan and Jac-Cen-Del. Zach Martini won the individual title with a time of 16:50 on the 5k course. He was followed by teammates Claudio Gallegos, Trevor Levi, Matt Martini and Colton Henry to round out the top five. They won with a score of 37.

The lady Shiners competed at the Pumpkin Invite as well finishing in 3rd place. Senior Kinzie Scott led the Shiners with a fourth place finish followed closely by teammate Kasey Baker.

Boys Middle School Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · No penalty, No Problem


Rising Sun Boys Soccer won late in the game against Shawe on Friday. With the game tied at 2-2 and with less than 2 minutes to play, RS was awarded a penalty, which was then reversed to a free kick outside the penalty area. The change of the initial penalty did not matter as RS was able to score from the free kick, winning the game 3-2.

Multiple Teams · Varsity on a Win Streak


The varsity volleyball team gained their sixth win in a row by defeating Switzerland County to move to 4-0 in the conference. It was a long night with the match going to the fifth set. Caroline Stapleton led the team with serving 32 out of 33 for 97% and 3 aces. Tiffany Vinup dominated on the net with 21 kills. The win can be contributed to the whole team digging deep and relying on each other to stay focused and confident while playing from behind. The Shiners pulled out the win: 25-20, 17-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-8.

JV lost in two to South Dearborn (22-25, 19-25) and Switzerland County (20-25, 18-25).
