On Tuesday September 3rd, Rising Sun Cross Country traveled to Lawrenceburg to participate in a three way meet featuring Milan, Lawrenceburg, and Rising Sun. The evening was very hot and the course was a rough one featuring Lawrenceburg’s signature Levee twice throughout the course. Even in with such challenging obstacles the Rising Sun Shiners persevered. Shiner boys won with a score of 25 followed by the Tigers with 30. Girls were unable to place as a team due to only having two members. Breaking down the scoring for the Shiners you will see athletes listed in finishing order: Dalton Vinup – 1st, Peyton Merica – 3rd, Grant Taylor – 4th, Brian Givan – 8th, Cyrus McComas – 9. Also on the boys team AJ Boes finished in 11th followed by Nate Graver in 12th. Additionally the girls placed well with Kiera Mann getting 6th place and McKenzie Ellegood finishing 9th. All athletes saw some slower times due to the nature of the course and heat. The Shiner Cross Country season will continue with a brief break from competition allowing athletes to prepare for the next meet on Thursday September 12.
