Last night (May 8, 2019) Rising Sun took part in the ORVC track and field conference meet. Spectators got to see personal season records from many of the Rising Sun track athletes.
Notable performances in field events include a second place jump of 18′ 3/4″ from Montgomery in boy’s long jump. Bujak then followed scoring 3rd place in Girl’s long jump with a jump of 14′ 6.25′, only 2.25 inches shy of the winning jump from Lundergan of South Ripley, Over in Discus Maddie Wilson won the event with a PR, she threw a 94′ 3″, earning her the title of conference champion. Also in Discus we saw a PR from Meranda Workman that earned her a 5th place ribbon.
In running events the action got even more exciting, starting off with a huge PR from the boy’s 4×800 team. The team consisting of Taylor, Rider, Givan, and Vinup ran a time of 9:30.12. Daniel Daughtery also earned all conference with a first place in hurdles. Daughtery ran a smooth race that allowed him to finish first with a time of 16.02. Daughtery also placed later in the evening with his perfomance in the 300m low hurdles that earned him second place in the event.
As the meet continued on more places were won by the shiner athletes. Girl’s team earned 3rd in the 4×100. Kinsey Price got a PR and as well joined the list of conference champs with a 400 run in the time of 1:02.58. In the 800 Grant Taylor ran his first individual race since returning from an injury, he earned 4th place with a 2:16. Both 4×400 teams earned third places in their respective races.
At the end of the night and total points were tallied results fell as followed:
