The Varsity Shiners beat JCD on Tuesday night in an ORVC mid week contest 58-48. The Shiners defended the post well early, however JCD was able to keep contact with the Shiners by knocking down their 3’s. The Shiners led 20 to 17 at halftime with 15 of the Eagles points coming from behind the arc. The Shiners held JCD’s all world post man Brandon Baber scoreless in the first half. The Shiner’s continued their recipe of success in the second half by taking advantage of several drive and kick opportunities as Senior Jake Bovard got hot from the arc finishing with 20 points, 12 from deep. Senior Forward Wesley Rider had 13 for the Shiners and played tremendous defense on JCD’s Baber holding him to 8 points with only 3 field goals. Justin Ohlmansiek led the Eagles with 15 points.
The Shiners (9-10,2-3) return to action on Friday night, February 15, as they host conference rival South Ripley as the JV contest starts at 6:00pm with varsity action to follow.
