The Shiner JV drop below .500 losing 2 games this week. The Shiners traveled to Milan on a rare Thursday night game to take on the Indians in an ORVC match up. The Shiner offense struggled early with a lot of sloppy ball handling and passing and the Shiners couldn’t seem to find the basket. The Indians however had no issues knocking down their shots ear and the Shiners dug themselves a 26-16 halftime deficit that didn’t get any better in the 2nd half as they were defeated 49-30. The Shiners were paced by Sophomore Guard Chase Kuehn with 9 points and Junior post Max Bowne with 6. The Shiners traveled to Southwestern-Shelby on Saturday for another rare Saturday match up at Noon. The young Shiners took a 4-1 lead at the end of the 1st quarter but a lot of missed opportunities by the Shiners in the 1st would come back to haunt them in the 2nd quarter as the Shiners were outscored 19 to 1 in the 2nd quarter and trailed by 15 at halftime. The Shiners came out in the 2nd half wand played with more fire and closed the game up to 3 points at one time but eventually fell 40 to 33. The JV Shiners were led by Sophomore Guard Landon Cole, who had 12 points in 1 quarter of action, and Freshman Damon Carrigan who scored all 8 of his points in the 4th quarter. The Shiners (6-8, 1-1) return to action on Friday night, February 8 at home as they host on ORVC rival Southwestern-Hanover with JV action starting at 6pm.
