The Rivertown Champions failed to show up with the same intensity that won them the title just 2 weeks ago against the same opponent on Friday night. The night started out with a 3 point bucket by Senior Nick Koons, but the Shiners then missed their next 7 attempts behind the arc, that accompanied with 10 turnovers in the 1st half put the Shiners down and had the Pacers feeling good at the break leading 22-17. The 5 point deficit was the closest the Shiners would get the score in the second half as they fell to the Pacers 54-47. The Pacers made it a point to get their post player involved and Tyler Konkle was up to the challenge as he responded with 24 points in the contest, 12 of which came from the charity stripe. Damian Breeck, who was held to 5 points in the Rivertown championship came up big scoring 23 knocking down five 3 point baskets. In a reversal of fortunes Shiner Senior Guard who scored 27 in the RTC title game against Switz, could only muster 7 points in tonight’s affair. The Shiners were once again led by Senior swing man Nick Koons with 15 points (4/4 from the FT line) and Sophomore Forward Landon Cole with 7. The Shiners (5-7, 0-1) will next take the court on Friday, January 25th as they travel to Madison Shawe for an ORVC match up. Madison Shawe does not have a JV team this season, so the Shiner fans will be treated to an 8th grade game prior to the varsity contest as the Rising Sun 8th grade, newly crowned Tri-County Champions, will be taking on the Shawe Hilltoppers at 6:00 with varsity action to follow.
The Hauser game has been rescheduled for February 22, 2019
