Jordan Parsons knocks down 3 of his 11 in the Rivertown
The Shiner JV took a tough loss at home on Wednesday afternoon losing their 1st round Rivertown Classic match up against Lawrenceburg 50-46. The Young Shiners played well all day matching the Tigers score after the 1st quarter 12 all and half time at 23-23. The game came down to the end of the 3rd quarter when a few empty possessions by the Shiners yielded baskets for the Tigers and the Shiner deficit was 5 points at the end of the period 39-34. The Tiger stretched it out to 9 points but Shiners showed grit and battled back coming up short in the end losing 50-46. “Even though we lost, it was probably the most complete game we have played all season and the improvement from game 1 until now shows the progress we are looking for in developing these players and our program. I was really proud of our effort and execution”, stated Coach Phelps. The Shiners were lead by Sophomore Chris Bowne who scored 15 points in only 2 quarters of action. Freshman Jordan Parsons had 11 and Sophomore Landon Cole scored 6 points in his only quarter of play. Lawrenceburg was led by the sharp shooting of Dakota Roth who scored 19 and post man Brayden York who scored 12. The JV Shiners (4-5) return to action on Friday, January 11 at 6pm as they take on conference foe Milan in Rising Sun.
