Shiners News · Boys JV 3-2 after win vs New Washington

Kendall Montgomery drills a 3 vs New Washington

The Shiner JV has worked themselves back above .500 with a big win Friday night at home versus New Washington 44-33.  The Shiner D came to play early shutting the Mustangs out in the 1st quarter.  The only problem is the Shiner offense didn’t show up until the 3rd quarter, only scoring 2 points in the first frame and only having 6 points at the half.  The Shiners trailed at the break 13 to 6.  Some halftime adjustments were made by Coach Tim Phelps and the Shiners really turned up the heat by full court pressing in the 3rd quarter which yielded several transition baskets en route  to a 20 point 3rd quarter and a 17 point 4th.  The Shiners were led by Sophomore Chris Bowne with 16 points and Freshman Kendall Montgomery added 7.  The Mustangs were paced by sharp shooting  Junior  Fernando Diaz who led all scorers with 20 point making 6 three point baskets.  The Shiners return to action tonight Saturday December 15 at 6pm as they take on the Oldenburg Academy Twisters in Oldenburg
