Rising Sun Boys Soccer won the 2018 Boys 1A Soccer Sectional on Saturday Night at Jac-Cen-Del HS over the South Ripley Raiders. The Shiners win their first Sectional Title since 2000. The Shiners are now 12-3-3 on the 2018 season.
The Shiners got on the board in the first half at the 27:48 mark with a crafty goal by Jake Bovard. Both teams battle hard until Bovard again got the ball on the weak side for a short range goal. This put the Shiners up 2-0.
Rising Sun’s then opened up the scoring with James Bound getting a goal at the 7:55 mark and Zack Brokaw with a nifty goal at the 6:32 mark. South Ripley made some good passes up the field to score within the 2 minute mark in the first half. Halftime score was 4-1 Shiners lead. The Shiners got back at it quick in the second half as Zack Brokaw got his second goal with 38:20 left in the match. The play for most of the second half was a defensive stalwart but Rising Sun Scored on a penalty kick. Zack Brokaw scored his third goal with 8:27 remaining. Final Score was Rising Sun-6 and South Ripley -1.
Rising Sun will now play in the IHSAA 1A Regional #12 at Providence High School this Saturday, October 13. The Shiners will play in the second morning game at approximately Noon against the South Spencer Rebels. The first game of the regional is at 10am and pits Vincennes Rivet against Providence. The cost is $7.00 per session or $10 .00 for both morning and evening session. (preschool free). The regional championship is set for 6pm. The IHSAA IA Boys Soccer Bracket can be found at this link:

- No Ballons, Banners, posters, etc..
- No noisemakers, sirens, whistles, horns, etc..
- No throwing of articles, toilet tissue, etc..
