Shiners News · Shiner Volleyball goes 5 sets with South Decatur


Thursday night the Lady Shiners took on one of their sectional opponents, South Decatur.  It was a very even match up. The Shiners got off to a slow start, struggling defensively.   They lost set 1 with a score of 14-25. They bounced back to win set 2 25-16 but, were still struggling to get in a rhythm and lost set 3 20-25. To take it into set 5, the Shiners won 25-18. In the 5th set, the Lady Shiners once again started off slow, but did not give up and got an exciting win with a final of 15-10. Coach Gregory commented that she is proud of the team for fighting until the end. The team has previously struggled coming back after getting down.

Kassidy Romans was the top server going 13/13 with 3 aces.

Leading in kills were Danyka Groover with 14, Lucy Phelps 5, Lindsay Montgomery 5 and Cora Poling 4.

Tyrrah Miller led the defense with 13 digs.

The JV lost in 2 sets.
