Shiners News · Shiners Compete at Southwestern Invite

The Shiner Cross-Country team competed at the Southwestern Invitational (formerly the Pre-ORVC meet) on Thursday, September 6th. The runners completed the 5 kilometer race at Hanover College. Running first for the Shiners was Dalton Vinup with a fourth place finish. Freshmen Grant Taylor ran closely behind Vinup for most of the race until he dropped out due to tight hamstrings. Brian Givan finished 26th followed by Chris Bowne (27) and A.J. Boes (29).  The Shiners did not have a team score due to only four runners completing the race.

The ladies had a rough night with two runners not completing due to illness and injury. McKenzie Ellegood finished 23rd.

The Shiners competed in the Jac-Cen-Del invitational on Saturday, September 8th. It was rough conditions for the Shiners with a wet course and continuous rain but Shiner men finished 7th out of 9 teams. Dalton Vinup (12th) and Grant Taylor (18th) finished in the top 20 to earn recognition. McKenzie Ellegood led the Shiner ladies followed by Keira Oser.

The Shiners will compete in the Big Blue Invitational on September 11th at 5:00 p.m.
