The Lady Shiners put aside the disaster from two nights prior and outslugged Southwestern 11-7 in Hanover Wednesday.
Sophomore Sydney Pitts struck out 12 and walked just one in a complete game conference victory. At the plate, she contributed a pair of doubles and one single as part of a 17-hit Rising Sun night.
Junior battery mate Sydney Bostic hit her first high school home run and also singled. Junior Abby Wallace had yet another multi-hit, multi-RBI game with three hits (including a double) and 3-RBI. Senior Caroline Stapleton posted two hits and 2-RBI. Freshman Tyrrah Miller singled and doubled plus swiped two bases. Junior Lucy Phelps notched two singles and 1-RBI. Junior Emma Levi also had a couple of singles.
“It was nice to see the girls respond Wednesday after a bad night all around Monday,” said coach Bryce Kendrick. “We still had three errors with only one of notable concern. But, by and large, the team had a much more aggressive mindset and attacked both offensively and defensively. To be successful, we have to dictate and not be dictated to.”
