The Shiner boys picked up two lopsided wins over the weekend as they defeated Shawe on Friday, 72-34 to remain undefeated at 2-0 in ORVC play. Rising Sun traveled to Waldron on Saturday and defeated the Mohawks 81-49. In Friday’s game vs. the Hilltoppers, Noah Pflum led the way with 18 points, followed by Brent Turner with 15, Jake Bovard and Trenton Gridley 10 a piece, Jason McClellan 8, Nick Koons 5, Jake Powell 3, Landon Cole 2 and Brent Webb 1. The JV squad moved to 2-0 without even playing as Shawe had to forfeit the game due to lack of numbers.
In Saturday’s game at Waldron, Nick Koons had a game high 20 points and Brent Turner tossed in 19 points. They were followed by Trenton Gridley with 10, Noah Pflum 9, Jake Bovard and Wesley Rider 7 each, Jason McClellan 6, Chris Bowne 2 and Landon Cole 1. The Shiner JV team defeated Waldron in overtime 60-56. Chris Bowne led the team with 16 points followed by Landon Cole with 15, Jake Powell 13, Brent Webb 9, Daniel Daugherty 4, Bryce Abner 2, and Max Bowne 1.
The teams will host Milan on Thursday in an ORVC match up, and they will host possible sectional opponent Southwestern (Shelby) Saturday afternoon with the JV game starting at noon.
