Shiners News · Lady Shiners win Consolation game, while Carrigan breaks records in Rivertown

On Friday night, January 5th, the Lady Shiners battled Switzerland County in the Rivertown Tourney Consolation game.   The first quarter saw the Lady Pacers get out to a fast 11 to 5 start.  By the end of the first quarter, Rising Sun closed the gap to 13 to 10.   At halftime, the Lady Shiners headed into the locker room with a 24 to 24 tie.  During the 3rd quarter, the Lady Shiners outscored the Lady Pacers 12 to 9.  With the small 3 point lead going into the 4th quarter, Rising Sun finally went on a 9 to 0 run to give themselves some breathing room.  Switzerland County didn’t go away easy, as they cut the lead back down to 7 with a minute left.  Rising Sun ended up winning the game 52 to 45.


Congratulations to Lucy Carrigan on breaking the Rivertown tourney’s single game scoring record with 30 points against Switzerland County.  The former tourney single game record was 28 points.  Lucy Carrigan also scored 24 points against Lawrenceburg in the first round game.  Her combined 54 points breaks the former tourney 2 game scoring record of 50 points.


Some stats for Risings Sun against Switzerland County were:  Danyka Groover with 6 pts and 12 rebounds, Maddie Wilson had 7 points,  and Sydney Pitts had 5 points and 3 assists,
