Shiners News · Lady Shiners scare Lady Tigers in 1st round of Rivertown Classic


On Wednesday, January 3rd,  the Lady Shiners participated in the first round of the Rivertown Classic against Lawrenceburg.  The Lady Shiners came ready to play and put a major scare into the Lady Tigers.  The first half ended in a 26 to 26 tie.  During the 3rd quarter, the Lady Tigers looked like they were about to pull away, going up 10 with a little over 4o seconds left to play in the quarter.  Rising Sun rattled off a quick 7 points, cutting the Tiger Lead down to 3, going into the 4th quarter.  During the 4th quarter,  Rising Sun had possession of the ball, with a chance to win the game in regulation, but turned the ball over as time ran out.  At the end of regulation, the score was tied 48 to 48.  In overtime, the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Shiners 9 to 3.  The final score had the Lady Tigers defeating the Lady Shiners 57 to 51.  Leading scorers for the Lady Shiners were Lucy Carrigan with 24 pts and Danyka Groover with 16 pts.  The Lady Shiners play in the consolation game Friday night against Switzerland County.
