Shiners News · Shiners Play Hard to the Final Buzzers But Fall Short in Openers

The boys basketball team opened their season at South Dearborn last week on November 21st with a tough 73-70 loss that saw South Dearborn freshman, Isaiah Jefferson knock a three pointer down from the right corner with .6 seconds remaining in the game.  After a timeout, the Shiners were able to get off a desperation shot before the buzzer sounded, but the shot missed leaving the Shiners with a heartbreaking loss.  The JV squad also lost to the Knights 53-37.

The Shiners played their home opener last Saturday, November 25th vs. South Ripley.  The game remained close most of the way before the Raiders were able to open up as much as a 17 point lead late in the 3rd quarter before the Shiners rallied back to cut the lead to 54-51 midway through the 4th quarter.  From that point, South Ripley outscored Rising Sun 13-6 to hold on for a 67-57 win.  The JV team lost in double overtime 41-38.  The teams will travel to South Decatur on Saturday, hoping to capture that first win of the season.
