The boys’ soccer team opened up the season as the second game of a double-header versus Trinity Lutheran. Rising Sun opened up the scoring less than 10 minutes in as Landon Cole followed up on a loose ball in the area and put the ball into an open goal. Trinity Lutheran applied a lot of pressure as the defense of Justis White, Colton McKay and Dylan Koons did their best to keep the lead. Trinity Lutheran hit the post on one occasion but the defense scrambled the ball away. Eventually trinity Lutheran tied up the game on a follow-up header off a save. Rising Sun took back control after a long goal from Brayden Bush and then a goal from Zac Brokaw coming down the wing. The first half ended with Rising Sun leading 3-1. The second half Rising Sun seemed to play more relaxed and limit the scoring opportunities, as Jason McClellan came in to help stabilize the defense. Controlling the ball more, Rising Sun worked the ball into the corner and Jake Bovard managed to put the ball in the goal. Jaydin Parsons ended the Rising Sun scoring as he dribbled down the middle of the field and chipped the ball in over the keeper. Trinity Lutheran managed a late goal as Rising Sun had put the JV players in to get some game experience and Rising Sun finished victorious with a 5-2 win to open up the new season.
