The Rising Sun Shiner boys basketball team entered their Sectional match-up with Oldenburg Academy as decisive underdogs. The Twisters have been picked by some to win the Class 1A state tournament this year, and they did nothing to dispute that case last night as they defeated the Shiners 54-33. The Shiner defense was solid for most of the night, but the Twister defense was outstanding as the Shiners had difficulty scoring all night. Oldenburg moves on to play host South Decatur in the 2nd game of tomorrow night’s Sectional action. Hauser will face Waldron in the first game starting at 6 PM. Rising Sun graduates three seniors in Brandon Benning, Tristan Brown, and Angelo Gallegos. The Shiners finished the season 4-20, but three of those wins were conference wins which was good enough for a tie for 4th place in the ORVC. Switzerland County and South Ripley were co-champs of the conference this year with matching 5-1 records.
