Former Shiner Named Conference Player of the Year

2015 Rising Sun High School graduate and current Thomas More College sophomore Alix DeDreu was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Year. DeDreu led the Saints to an 18-0 conference record and PAC Tournament title. The Saints will now play in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. The team will open up double elimination Regional play at Berry College in Mt. Berry, Georgia. Thomas More (35-8) is the #4 seed in the Regional and will face the host and #1 seed Berry Vikings (38-2) on Friday at 3:30 PM. #2 seed Transylvania (31-11) will face #3 seed Emory & Henry (34-13) on Friday at 1:00 PM. A full schedule of the Mt. Berry Regional can be found below as well as a complete NCAA Division III Softball Tournament bracket.

In PAC play, DeDreu went 9-0 with a 0.49 Earned Run Average, 43 strikeouts, 6 complete games, and 3 shutouts. DeDreu had a .468 conference batting average and is hitting .414 overall. Alix remains the only Indiana All-Star that Rising Sun has ever had in any sport.
